A baby is on the way
EnglishEspañol

A little one is on the way. Rejoice!

What a gift! God is forming a new life inside you. This page is for celebrating, praying, and preparing your heart and home, with God's Word as your guide.

Why this baby is a blessing

Your baby is God's handiwork.

Every heartbeat you hear at the doctor's office is God at work. He is knitting this child together, on purpose and with care.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Psalm 139:13–14

Your baby bears God's image.

Before your baby can smile, crawl, or say a word, this little one already has dignity and worth, because God made them in His image.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 1:27

Children are a reward from the Lord.

God does not call children a burden or an accident. He calls them a heritage and a reward.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
Psalm 127:3

Rejoice like Mary.

When Mary was expecting, she sang. Let your joy become worship that points back to the Giver.

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”
Luke 1:46–47

God's promise reaches your children.

God works through families, from one generation to the next. Pray that this baby will know and love Christ.

“For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Acts 2:39

Faith is taught at home.

Faith grows in ordinary moments: a lullaby, a bedtime prayer, a Bible story at breakfast. You can start now.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
Deuteronomy 6:6–7

Why we celebrate

“What is the chief end of man? Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.”

Westminster Shorter Catechism, Q&A 1

Pray for your baby

A short prayer for each stage. Pray it in your own words, and add your baby's name when you know it.

Lord, thank You for this life. Form this baby in secret, as You formed me. Guard every cell, and guard my heart from fear.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Psalm 139:13–14

Verses for joyful waiting

Tap a topic. Write one verse on a card and put it where you'll see it every day.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Psalm 103:1–2
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
James 1:17

Celebrate with another mom

Joy grows when it's shared. Here are ways to bless an expecting friend:

  • Pray for her baby by name, and tell her you did.
  • Plan a simple baby shower centered on prayer and blessings.
  • Write a verse or a blessing for the baby that she can keep.
  • Offer help for after the birth: a meal, a load of laundry, an hour of rest.
  • Ask about her joys and her hard days too.
“Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
